Thanks for the Patches, they work great on my site.
The only thing i had to do with your "fix_adressbook_search_one.patch" was
to uncomment the lines 96,97,98 then it works for me.

I installed the most recent Version of horde and turba on my kolab server
(2.0.3). Everything works fine except that the contacts in the users local
adressbook dont show up. It appears empty though creating users (and syncing
them with Kontact) works flawlessly. The users created with Turba also show
up afterwards. The other Contacts were either created with Kontact or the
Toltec-Connector but neither is visible. There was a bug report a couple of
months back wich sounded similar, but in my case it is just that no contacts
show up.

Applying the patches from Ticket #3212 solved my problems. The only thing
that remains is that queries are case-sensitive, don't know why but that's
just minor nuisance. Sorry I didnt look for bug reports under the kolab
category but under turba. Next time i know better. Thanks for this great

Text doesn't appear.  The browser can gain focus on the areas (blinking
cursor) but nothing shows up as I type.

I realized I'm running this against Horde 3.1.1 instead of CVS so that's
probably my problem.  Could also be why my change broke Jan's instance but
works fine in my case.

I'll try to get a Horde CVS version up and try it against that.

Okay - let us know what Horde CVS looks like. I can't think of anything we
could be doing that would let the cursor focus in the textarea but hide text

I'm not sure if this message is broken, but at least the report mime viewer
was not able to handle it. It even told me that, but only displayed the
message headers. I think it should fall back to show either the first body
part or provide links to the different parts.

hmm, this works but only for my default calendar and not for the others.
I think it's a matter of discussion which calendars to include in the FB
search.
Personally I would expect that all calendars in my view are considered.

the problem down the the folder icon hook, which requests most of the time.

The attached patch caches the folder icons, so the hook must be executed

have emails marked as deleted in your INBOX, if you had hide deleted enabled
before upgrading to 4.x you don't have any links at all to show or purge the

This would seem to be because showDeleteLinks() (in lib/Mailbox.php) checks
if $GLOBALS['imp_search']->isVINBOXFolder() returns false, but it never does
at this point.

This is because in isVINBOXFolder() (in lib/Search.php) $this->_id is null,
because no searches are made and also 
$GLOBALS['prefs']->getValue('vinbox_id') is empty.
(null == "") is true so this function returns true even for normal
mailboxes.

Because _showdelete won't be set if hide deleted is used, no links at all to
either show deleted or purge deleted are shown. If no hide deleted was
enabled then only purge deleted link is shown.

In the newest CVS whole showDeletedLinks is removed, but there is no
corresponding change to mailbox.php yet to accommondate this. So the problem
with the links will probably be solved. The problem with isVINBOXFolder()
might, however, affect some other places too. 

If I go to search page and just search for all emails in INBOX, then the
links are shown as $this->_id won't be null.

Setting a hook for fullname and locking the fullname pref cause the hook not
to be executed.  For the hook to be executed, the fullname pref must not be
locked.

uncomment _prefs_hook_fullname (gecos) from hooks.php

Set prefs.php - fullname to be "locked" with no value
$_prefs['fullname'] = array(
    'value' => '',
    'locked' => true,
    'hook' => true,
    'shared' => true,
    'type' => 'text',
    'desc' => _("Your full name:")
);

After login and composing a new message the fullname is not displayed. 
Changing the locked to false and nothing else will work.

According prefs comment:
// user full name for From: line
// If you lock this preference, you must specify a value or a hook for it
in
// horde/config/hooks.php.

Removing the value line in the prefs.php has no effect on the problem. 
Since a hook is specified, this should work.  This option worked correctly
as listed a few months ago.  Using an older revision of Horde framework
makes this work.

shows no significant differences. I suppose the solution of bug #3623 show
be to correct the "typo" instead of including a second copy of the stripe.js

There are several directories defined in Turba. Whatever directory user
selects as default in Options -> Address Book -> Searching Options ->
Default directory, "My Addressbook" is always selected by default in search
form and in address book window opened from new message composing window.

Some directories (sources) have restricted permissions, some are available
to all users -- changing permissions does not affect the issue.

This seems like the easiest way to go. We are talking about less then ten
lines of procmail recipe code (iirc) which is not really rocket science.
This would of course be a completely different story if we were about to
include large parts of, or the complete pm-lib.
And it's similar to how we did handle inclusion of other third party code or
algorithms with written permission by the author.

This seems impratical. I'm not sure if this an issue of GPL only or with any
licence like ASL here. But since contributors don't explicitely hand the
copyright over to the Horde Project (which doesn't exist as a legal entity
anyway), we probably can't simply change the licence without the permission
of each single contributor.

The current version I am running is a CVS checkout from 04/11/06.

After replacing framework modules, one at a time, I have determined that the
problem is in "Prefs".  I am not positive on a date of the working version,
I think it was around 03/26/06.  I do have a copy that is working correctly
and I have attached it.  I think the option got broken sometime shortly
after that.

If I install all of the framework from 04/11/06 and then replace only Prefs
with the older version, the fullname hook option works with the fullname
pref is locked.

Subject text in the original message is correctly MIME encoded. But when you
open this message to compose windows eg. to reply then the subject text
looks like it is converted from iso-8859-1 to utf-8 but then shown as if it
still were in iso-8859-1charset.

Our branch-finding relies on there being a branches: line in the log for the
relevant revision, which the branch point for FRAMEWORK_3_0 does not have. I
guess we need to change how we find branches?

As far as I can understand it is not the same issue. It seems that charset
are converted between iso-8859-1 and utf-8 either too many times or too few
times. Somehow somewhere the multibyte charset recognition is not working
and text with utf-8 charset is shown as if it were iso-8859-1.

This issue appeared after Imp release 4.1.0.

I'm not clear what the purpose of this is - it's trivial to delete the text
if you don't want it. The original reporter was complaining about the
original text still being in the _attachment_.

I'm having the same issue. I mustered up enough patience to see if was
working, and it seems to be.  It just takes a very long time between clicks
to display the required screen. One thing I did notice was that it seemed to
take a little longer with every successive click. Only the Turba related
links are affected, meaning, once I'm in Horde and I click on any link on
the side or top menu that doesn't require Turba to report some kind of
information the page updates normally. If for example IMP has Turba linked
in it's menu, IMP will take a long time to display, but if I remove the link
IMP displays normally.

On the same system I have an older version of Horde (2.13), IMP (2.21), and
Turba (1.12), in a separate folder of course, and that combination is
working fine.  My latest configuration has the following versions:
Horde 3.1.1
IMP 4.1.1
Turba 2.1
MIMP 1.0-RC1
RedHat Linux Enterprise Edition Version 3
MySQL 5.0.19
PHP 4.4.2

I would like to comment on this issue from the perspective of a simple
user.

A user gets a message, which contains a body and may  be one or more
attachments. When I forwar this message, I expect to see the body in the
editor, so that I can comment it or just add my own text. Iexpect eventual
attachments from the original message to be attached again with the
possibility to remove them one by one. That's it.

I can see that there may be reasons to do more sophisticated things with
message parts, but please let that not be the default behavior.

As it is now compared to how it used to be in older versions:
- Processing mail gets more complicated, I have to go through a menu instead
of just click the action I want(or use a short cut key).
- After two times forwarding a message(common practice here) the end
recipient gets a message with two extra attachments containing message
sources and two 'unnamed' links which if followed show a piece of the
message already on screen. This is the 'without body text' option. In the
standard behavior things are even worse, it ends up with three copies of the
original body text as an extra.

Please keep it simple for ordinary users.

Please see the comment dated 2/8/2006.  The issue is it is very difficult
(if not impossible) to code an algorithim that 100% correctly identifies
what "should" be forwarded and what shouldn't.  IMP's previous algorithim
was not 100% reliable - that is why I have been playing around with other
methods.

My goal is to create a forward drop-down (like the current reply drop-down)
that has (at least) 2 options: Forward as RFC822 part and Forward
attachments only.  Also, to add a preference for default forwarding behavior
- this behavior will be used when the 'Forward' navbar action is clicked
(rather than any of the options in the drop down).  I just haven't had a
whole heck of a lot of time lately, which is why this ticket has stalled
lately.  But this is at the top of my list of things to do (this obviously
needs to be resolved before IMP 4.2 so I am bumping the milestone).

Multipart/alternative is the core of this report.  IMP's current behavior

multipart/mixed, and (2) the compose window allows a user to edit one of the
sub-parts without propagating those changes into the other sub-parts.

1) Converting multipart/alternative into multipart/mixed violates the intent
of multipart/alternative, because mail clients will automatically display
all subparts of multipart/mixed to the user.  See RFC 2046: "What is most
critical, however, is that the user not automatically be shown multiple
versions of the same data."

2) Editing one body part without editing the others also violates the intent
of multipart/alternative: see RFC 2046: "In particular, each of the body
parts is an "alternative" version of the same information."


Summing up: yes, I like your plan of offering a choice between "forward as
MIME attachment" and "forward text + attachments".

Well, for this one we should just say there are no parts that can be
displayed inline. Probably we're tripped up by the multipart/alternative,
but since it only has one part, not much else we can do if you've turned off
display of that part.

Is there an preference setting that could interfere with this charset and
multibyte regocnition in Imp or Horde?

Could this be somehow related to the charset information that browser is
sending to Horde?

For me this situation is repeatable in IE and Firefox browsers with Imp
running on Linux or Solaris OS. It does not matter if user is using english
or finnish locale in Horde.

buttons along with the IE rendered tooltip which grabs it's content from the
img alt tag.

To fix, a title of "" needs to be added to the img tag.  I had to do this
with my own code that does fancy tooltips.

I am experiencing the same slow response with 3.1.1 as well.  Here is the

The new preference for default_msg_charset has the property shared set to
true after patching IMP 4.1 to 4.1.1.  However, the help information is put
in the IMP help file and not the horde file. The side-effect of this is that
the help link next to the preference points to the horde module help
information and not imp's. Either the shared property should be false or the
help information should be in the horde help file and not the imp help file.

The horde_hook_preauthenticate() only seems to be used to check wheter user
is allowed to authenticate. Is there a hook that could be used to modify
userid information before it is send to the authentication backend eg. to
lower case userid or to strip away whitespace from userid.

If you administer your own Horde installation, all you need to do is to
disable the option to check IP in the session - it's in Horde's
authentication configuration.

If you don't, you need to tell your administrator to do the same.

Btw, this has nothing to do with the horde.org servers.

I understand where you're coming from here, but I think the previous
behavior was more intuitive for most users. The only real issue was with
multipart/alternative parts, thus the original issue in this ticket.

I think those 2 are what is needed, and a preference matches what I remember
clients like Thunderbird providing.

With multipart/alternative + forwarding inline, I'd also be fine with just
taking the text part from the alternative part and dropping the rest. If at
some point we can be smarter and take the HTML part if we support HTML
composition, that's a bonus.

Thanks - this was the key piece of information.  We did charset conversion
in MIME_Headers::getOb() after we did MIME decoding, when the order should
be reversed.  I wasn't seeing this in IMP HEAD since we no longer use the
MIME_Headers:: version of getOb().

This has been fixed in HEAD and Horde 3.1.2.

There are a few options - _username_hook_tobackend, _imp_hook_vinfo. Take a
look through horde/config/hooks.php.dist. Search for String::lower() calls

Actually, looking at this again, this is the only way the purge links will
not show up (from the comment below):

This is because in isVINBOXFolder() (in lib/Search.php) $this->_id is null,
because no searches are made and also
$GLOBALS['prefs']->getValue('vinbox_id') is empty.
(null == "") is true so this function returns true even for normal
mailboxes.

As mentioned, this issue was already fixed in IMP 4.1.1.  vinbox_id was
being set to the null value incorrectly.  This should no longer be
happening.

Using latest (16-04-06) HEAD Framework.

Preferences not are not saved using MySQL backend (may also affect other
backends but only tested with MySQL).

Changes to Prefs per ticket 3761 have not altered this.

reverting to an older Prefs solves things (My copy is quite old - Prefs.php
is v1.141 2005/04/26)

No, but today (er, tonight) I reinstalled horde (+imp,turba,nag,ingo,passwd
+new horde database in mysql) once again (I had some other problems with
that installation...), and there is still the same problem with long logging
to horde. Here is my horde.log (while I'm trying to log in):

Why there are "?" in sql queries instead of some values, for example:

order to make use of them in the A001 login command, the username has to be
quoted. However imp/lib/IMAP/Client.php does not quote the user name and
trying to enter IMP with user name X Y and password Z generates the command
  A001 login X Y Z
which obviously has three parameters instead of two. Thefore I would like to
ask you to quote the username before passing it to the IMAP-server, e.g. by
prepending 
   $username = '"'. $username . '"';
to imp-4.1.1/lib/IMAP/Client.php:login($usrname) (put it on line 470).
