This is somewhat related to Ticket [#1674].

It would be nice to have a silent auto replacement feature with regard to
the spellcheck. For example, in Microsoft Word, when you type "ti" it will
automagically replace it with "it" without prompting if you have the
feature turned on. There is a list of common mispellings and replacements
in the program that is editable by the end user, it would be great if we
could implement this at some point.
