It should act like the "read encrypted message" link. You tick the button to sign/encrypt a message. If you click "Send" and there's no passphrase in the session you get the popup window requesting the passphrase. If you entered the passphrase the message gets automatically sent. We _do_ abstract pretty much everything behind objects, but don't always map them directly to tables - managing complex table relationships using entity objects can bet pretty ugly. Also, we simply don't assume that people will be using SQL for everything. > Another good thing would be that Horde application developers would only > have to define their DataObject configuration, and Horde could be > responsible for the table creation, etc. Having some automated table creation would be nice, I guess, but it's more overhead, and not especially fun code to manage it nicely for all databases. > The Binarycloud framework abstracts all data through the use of > Entities. It's very nice. I don't find this terribly convincing; I've looked at BinaryCloud in the past, and it is almost the complete opposite of Horde in how it mandates _everything_ and is in control of _everything_. There are of course some advantages to doing it that way - things are much simpler if you just _assume_ that every one of your users will have an RDBMS, etc. - but it's not necessarily better, or where we should go. > I was just considering the fact that Horde extensively uses PEAR and > PEAR::DB, so I would imagine extending on that to utilize > PEAR::DataObject would be a good thing. I'm open to being convinced that this is so, but getting specific - show me a piece of rewritten code that benefits from it or provides more features, show me that it's faster, etc. - would go a long way. -chuck -- Charles Hagenbuch, "After a few minutes the most aromatic and nice smelling Italian coffee will come out of the exhaustpipe." - Our stove-top espresso pot From jan@horde.org Sat Jul 20 17:31:51 2002 From: jan@horde.org (Jan Schneider) Date: Sat, 20 Jul 2002 18:31:51 +0200 Subject: [dev] Re: [cvs] commit: kronolith/templates/menu menu.inc In-Reply-To: <20020720155343.968C45FE@arkady.horde.org> References: <20020720155343.968C45FE@arkady.horde.org> Message-ID: <1027182711.3d39907735f59@jan.dip.ammma.net> Zitat von Chuck Hagenbuch : http://cvs.horde.org/diff.php/kronolith/templates/menu/menu.inc?r1=1.29&r2=1.30&ty=u I guess this is more than you wanted to commit. ;-) Jan. -- http://www.horde.org - The Horde Project http://www.ammma.de - discover your knowledge http://www.tip4all.de - Deine private Tippgemeinschaft From chuck@horde.org Sat Jul 20 18:22:59 2002 From: chuck@horde.org (Chuck Hagenbuch) Date: Sat, 20 Jul 2002 13:22:59 -0400 Subject: [dev] Small patch for imp/templates/mailbox/actions.inc In-Reply-To: <1027116897.3d388f616b9c3@horde.lauwerscollege.nl> References: <1027116897.3d388f616b9c3@horde.lauwerscollege.nl> Message-ID: <1027185779.3d399c735849b@marina.horde.org> Quoting Jan Kuipers : > The undelete action should not be shown, when using a trash folder. With the existing code the object_type field is _not_ used when adding a new contact. It is only used when adding a new group. In the browse screen a user has the opportunity to select "Show Lists", "Show Contacts" and "Show All", this actions make use of the object_type field, so when this field is empty no new contacts are shown, when selecting "Show Contacts". Regarding existing entries, the user should update turba_objects with the following sql command: update turba_objects set object_type = "Object" where object_type = ""; to get the table lined up with the new table structure. -- Jan Kuipers Systeembeheer Lauwers College From jrkuipers@lauwerscollege.nl Sat Jul 20 22:41:11 2002 From: jrkuipers@lauwerscollege.nl (Jan Kuipers) Date: Sat, 20 Jul 2002 23:41:11 +0200 Subject: [dev] Re: [cvs] commit: turba/scripts/drivers mysql_create.sql pgsql_create.sql turba.sql In-Reply-To: <1027200203.3d39d4cb58234@jan.dip.ammma.net> References: <20020720211622.AADA660A@arkady.horde.org> <1027200203.3d39d4cb58234@jan.dip.ammma.net> Message-ID: <1027201271.3d39d8f71f426@horde.lauwerscollege.nl> Citeren Jan Schneider : > Didn't we agree that it would be better to assume that an empty object_type > value represents an entry of the "Object" type so that admins don't have to > update their Turba tables? OK, OK... Even if nobody told me anything (even a simple "it works for me" would be appreciated...) I have found that the bug wasn't in identitity->hasAddress() but instead in my $conf['hooks']['from'] function (returned a newline at the end of the email address, so no match occurred). Anyway, it seems to me that the second bug I reported three days ago is a real one: identitity->hasAddress() compares email addresses with a simple strpos(), so "me@domain.com" matches "notme@domain.com"! I understand that a strict RFC822 compliance comparison is not easy to write, but isn't the current implementation too much prone to give false positive errors?
