PHP upgrades are a different thing... The above is for apache13 if you have apache2 you would add a 2 to apxs --with-apxs2=. . . . you will also need the corresponding libraries already installed. All these problems (1-3 + a) depend on the fact that some data get stored serialized. This is a general "problem" so I ask this to all developers: As mentioned earlier it seems to be save to store "raw" serialized data in the storage backends as PHP doesn't seem to have any problems unserializing even multibyte strings. Storing the serialized data unconverted into the backend has advantages as well as disadvantages to converting the data to the backend's internal charset before storing it: Advantage: Every data can be stored, no matter what charset the current user has. Disavantage: The data get broken as soon as the user changes his charset, for example by switching the translation or by the admin turning utf support on. What do we want to do? > b. Some of mail's subject, body still in wrong format in IMP even they > were send > through in Chinese format via Yahoo webmail. Please ref > http://www.thbuo.gov.tw/~txg16/tmp/920120.jpg ,also i have attached one > of > these mail . These messages (at least the one you attached) have invalid message headers. Email headers containing non-7bit characters have to be mime encoded before being passed to the mta. If they don't the result is unpredictable. My imap server (Cyrus) for example replace all non-7bit characters with "X". You were able to read these headers in the past because you happened to have the same charset as the people sending you the message. > c. Chinese folders does not look correct after UTF-8 used. Can IMP > automaticly > handle folder name to transfer into UTF-8 ? Or user got manualy rename > every > folder name one by one ? This should work automatically. I didn't have any problems creating Chinese named folders here with IMP or with other MUAs and seeing them correctly displayed in IMP. I use some new features of the mbstring extension to handle this, but if it doesn't work (because your PHP is too old), it should fall back to the old encoding method. That means if you used to be able to create Chinese folder names you still should. If you never were but want to do so, you should upgrade your PHP. On my setup, I enforce a rather strict security policy at the firewall. I allow the webserver to open ports to nowhere except if authenticated or I allow a specific IP. That being said, http out to the world is closed by default. One can make arguments for and against this policy but that's another discussion for a different mail list. Anyways, I'm not up to speed on where to submit code so if I'm wrong, please accept my apologies and turn me in the correct direction. I'd like to offer up an alternative to using fopen. Granted curl is yet another module to install, but I think it'd be useful. I wrote a quick function that uses curl to grab a URL via proxy (authenticated too). I thought this could go into the Horde library. And if this is ok, I'd like to write another function which will act as a wrapper so that if you have curl extensions installed it will use curl, otherwise it will use fopen. Other horde modules could utilize this to pull down lots of URLs (ie Jonah). I should probably extend this to handle cookies in some fashion too now that I'm looking back... /** * * Open a URL using curl extension (if its installed) and return the output. * * @access public * @param string $url The URL to fetch * * @return string The output of the URL we fetched */ function curlOutput($url) { global $conf; if (is_null($url)) { return false; } // maybe this should return a more voiceful error to help the user? if (!extension_loaded('curl')) { return false; } $ch = curl_init(); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION, 1); if (isset($conf['curl']['proxy'])) { curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_PROXY, $conf['curl']['proxy']); } if (isset($conf['curl']['auth'])) { curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_PROXYUSERPWD, $conf['curl']['auth']); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_USERPWD, $conf['curl']['auth']); } // Try 5 times to fetch URL for ($i=0;((curl_getinfo($ch, CURLINFO_HTTP_CODE)!=200)&&($i<5));$i++) { $ce = curl_exec($ch); } if (curl_getinfo($ch, CURLINFO_HTTP_CODE)!=200) { echo 'http error -' . curl_getinfo($ch, CURLINFO_HTTP_CODE) . You should take a look at Snoopy.php in horde/lib. IIRC it currently uses the curl command line interface but it probably can be extended to use the extension if available. No comment on the coding issue, but just a reinforcment of the need. A student who works for me is asian. He prefers to read his mail in zh_TW. When he sits down at a machine/browser that supports zh_TW (which not all do), then he logs into Horde with zh_TW. When he sits down at a machine/browser that doesn't support zh_TW, which happens often, he logs into Horde with English. But I got the point. The user should always get the same data, no matter what client he uses. Even if some of his data isn't compatible with the system's backend. However, randomly, the login is failing to function properly, reason not known yet but wrong password isn't the problem. However, even in a login failed situation, a session is still created and returned to my curl script. My question is that is there a way to confirm by some method in HORDE to verify that the login was successful - in my other systems I can call a method isUserLoggedIn() and that works great but as yet, haven't isolated one from HORDE...anyone have any thoughts? I've tested my sieve install outside of IMP and it seems to be working fine (telneting in on port 2000 generates some syslog entries for seive). IMP should at least create a raw socket connection with the sieve service, but does not according to the syslogs. I'm using the latest stable release of IMP-3.1. Does anyone else have this patch installed and working successfully with IMP-3.1? I would appreciate any ideas and suggestions regarding possible problems or solutions. Test.php of Horde tells me that everything is OK and I created all the database tables using the available scripts. Well, this is the point Michael mentioned. Afaik horde/imp just displays the folders with their names as they are stored on the IMAP server - which is certainly the way to go. Furthermore, for these names are different from one installation to another, there is no practical way to translate them via gettext. You might try to work with your IMAP server: change the default inbox folder's name as far as this is possible, do the appropriate settings in your servers.php or whereever you have defined the connection data, and try again. But not every server allows changing that name (although e.g. cyrus uses INBOX. - trailing dot), and please know that this wouldn't be RFC-conform - your own risk. I do not know whether somebody has tried to have a hook or so just for setting another display name for INBOX inside horde; it should be possible, but requiring some coding... I did look at Snoopy btw but I looked at the library included with Klutz. It does have some interesting things. My thought is that it would be nice if I could set the proxy (or other pertinent connection information) in one place and then have all the modules take advantage of it. It wouldn't be very difficult to write and I'd be happy to do so if there is consensus on going down that path. I could either modify Snoopy or write a new class from scratch. I do think modifying snoopy is probably a better path. Once that's in place I could go around to the various modules and modify them to use this new method. Right now I have to go and modify each module to utilize the proxy which i'd like to get away from. The only scary part about snoopy is that it utilizes the command line curl instead of the PHP extension (from what I gather curl extension isn't stable on all builds). But I don't see any attempts to escape characters in the actual exec call. From the looks of it, this is only a concern for doing https calls. HTTP requests don't make use of curl. (at least in v1.0, Horde includes v0.94). I'm gonna see if I can get clarification on this from the developers of Snoopy. Something like this - something lightweight - would be great. It'd be nice to have a lighter-weight, cleaner version of snoopy available for all of Horde to use. Some things we don't need curl for - since php 4.3 if you compile --with-openssl fopen() supports https. But things like POSTs, cookies, and proxies are worth getting under one roof. If you're willing to clean up Snoopy to match our coding standards/conventions/etc. that'd be great, but otherwise I'd rather have a new class. -chuck -- Charles Hagenbuch, must ... find ... acorns ... *thud* From chuck at horde.org Wed Jan 22 22:43:22 2003 From: chuck at horde.org (Chuck Hagenbuch) Date: Wed Jan 22 19:46:03 2003 Subject: [horde] sybase sql script In-Reply-To: References: <200301081053410180.0D5ADDFF@relais.videotron.ca> <1042049793.3e1c6b01e9c67@marina.horde.org> Message-ID: <1043293402.9cf35331df8c7@marina.horde.org> Quoting Fran?ois Helly : > An horde sql script for sybase (ASE) > > It works fine on a solaris server (5.8) Committed, thanks! -chuck -- Charles Hagenbuch, must ... find ... acorns ... *thud* From schimkat at musik.auc.dk Thu Jan 23 09:43:04 2003 From: schimkat at musik.auc.dk (=?UTF-8?B?U8O4cmVuIFNjaGlta2F0?=) Date: Thu Jan 23 00:41:16 2003 Subject: [horde] Open IMP composer from aother application References: <3E2D55C2.6030003@musik.auc.dk> <3E2E53FC.8050101@musik.auc.dk> <1043247374.897e97cd6d4c0@marina.horde.org> Message-ID: <3E2FAB18.8080900@musik.auc.dk> Hi Chuck Now I just need to include the code that actually open the compose window. Oh yesh, I forgot to mention in the mail yesterday. The Makefile in Mnemo seems to be broken. When I used it it gave me this error: /bin/sh: line 1: test: =: unary operator expected Compiling locale cs_CZ: with every language. I edited the Makefile from IMP to match the Mnemo parts and tried again and now the make install ran without errors. 23. tammikuuta 2003, 5:11, you wrote: ER> Quoting Heikki Ylipaavalniemi : >> Hello Eric, >> >> I just ran the make install command again and it succesfully updated the >> translation files. I am not sure how to add a user - I am using the system for the calendar only. My horde/config/horde.php is configured as follows: $conf['auth']['params'] = array(); $conf['auth']['params']['phptype'] = 'mysql'; $conf['auth']['params']['hostspec'] = 'localhost'; $conf['auth']['params']['username'] = 'horde'; $conf['auth']['params']['password'] = '****'; //a valid password is here $conf['auth']['params']['database'] = 'horde'; $conf['auth']['params']['table'] = 'horde_users'; //I have tried setting this to horde_prefs as well $conf['prefs']['params']['phptype'] = 'mysql'; $conf['prefs']['params']['hostspec'] = 'localhost'; $conf['prefs']['params']['username'] = 'horde'; $conf['prefs']['params']['password'] = '*****'; //valid password here $conf['prefs']['params']['database'] = 'horde'; $conf['prefs']['params']['table'] = 'horde_prefs'; I have manually added a user into the horde_users table (insert into horde_users values ("user",password("pass")) - have tried this with password and plain text ), but have not added anything into the horde_prefs table. When I try log in, the login screen is reloaded. What is the correct procedure for adding users? I know im probably doing something wrong that's obvious, but can see it. I guess you have a TLS problem or so. Know that the IMP test doesn't support all security layers - it just tries via plain IMAP. I'd suggest as follows: - check all available logs; even your IMAP server should give you some information if the request reached him but was invalid - try a cross-check: (1) with your IMP, try to connect to another IMAP server if available (internet connection, account) (2) with another IMP installation (horde's demo site; you might find some other installations in the web when googling a bit), try to connect to your IMAP server In both cases, check the net connection (firewall, proxy?). Furthermore, you might want to forget about the imp test and go on straight forward to configuring your IMP. In the conf.php, section mail server settings, set server_list to 'none' and all following option to true. Now, at login, you are prompted to select server address, port, protocol etc. Play a bit 'round; this way you will find the settings you'll need.
