I think you misunderstand what I was saying.  IMAP flags are *NOT*  
intended to be user viewable.  They are intended to map to a local  
label, which is then showed to the viewer.  That is why a non-standard  
IMAP flag on a message does not have any meaning outside of a user/MUA  
(and possibly mailbox) combination.

This has nothing to do with Dovecot.  This has to do with any IMAP server.

Even a string like "Important Mail" can't be stored using IMAP  
keywords.  At best, it could only be displayed as "importantmail" or  
"IMPORTANTMAIL".

I've brought a proposal to allow something like base64 encoding of  
keyword flags to the IMAP list, but the proposal didn't get far.
