However, one remaining problem is identification of the displaying character set for the Horde menus themselves. IE seems to autoidentify the encoding (EUC) correctly, but Firefox misidentifies the page as being in Shift-JIS. It can be manually overriden, but that needs to be done for each page that is displayed, and is impossible for the Compose Mail page, due to it spawning in a window without an accessible toolbar with which to change encoding. Looking at the sourcecode, there is no language meta-data being set, only . Shouldn't there be a as well, to allow browsers to correctly identify the character set being used? -Michael Brucia From jan at horde.org Wed Feb 9 15:27:41 2005 From: jan at horde.org (Jan Schneider) Date: Wed Feb 9 15:26:40 2005 Subject: [i18n] Horde 3.0.2 Japanese display In-Reply-To: <20050210042641.pv10ium5isgkwg8o@mjbpro.com> References: <20050210042641.pv10ium5isgkwg8o@mjbpro.com> Message-ID: <20050210002741.v7dwsquqogscok80@jan.dip.ammma.net> Zitat von michael@mjbpro.com: > This may or may not be a problem with Horde itself, but: > In version 3.0.2 of Horde, most Japanese problems seem to have been fixed > (yay!). The Japanese translation *is* in Shift-JIS, unless your server and browser support UTF-8 with Japanese locales. > Looking at the sourcecode, there is no language meta-data being set, > only lang="ja-JP">. Shouldn't there be a CONTENT="text/html; charset=euc-jp"> as well, to allow browsers to correctly > identify the character set being used? No, we send the charset with a HTTP header. Odd. When I set the character encoding to Shift-JIS, I get mangled garbage text. When I switch it to UTC, it displays fine. -Michael Brucia From michael at mjbpro.com Thu Feb 10 04:27:45 2005 From: michael at mjbpro.com (michael@mjbpro.com) Date: Thu Feb 10 09:26:56 2005 Subject: [i18n] Re: Horde 3.0.2 Japanese display Message-ID: <20050210212745.lcv52gue9toqo804@mjbpro.com> >> -----Original Message----- >> From: i18n-bounces at lists.horde.org >> [mailto:i18n-bounces at lists.horde.org] On Behalf Of Jan Schneider >> Sent: Thursday, February 10, 2005 8:28 AM >> To: i18n at lists.horde.org >> Subject: Re: [i18n] Horde 3.0.2 Japanese display >> >> The Japanese translation *is* in Shift-JIS, unless your >> server and browser support UTF-8 with Japanese locales. > > Odd.
