Could this be the issue in php-4.0.3pl1 from RedHat update?
Try the latest php from:
http://people.redhat.com/nalin/test/

I was having trouble after upgrading from the official redhat update in
RH7.0
The package php-*-4.0.3pl1*rpm was the cause. Installed the same version
but pl3 or highger solved my problem.

The is also a bug# in bugzilla.redhat.com

Hope this help

Oliver
