Ok, I just setup a test server and in the logs i found this

Nov 10 07:30:31 hiku popa3d[1185]: Didn't attempt authentication
Nov 10 07:35:23 hiku popa3d[21978]: Didn't attempt authentication

Mind you, my biggest concern is that horde will not login as admin
aswell.. so I was thinking it could've been session related, but the
test.php page works properly... so I have no clue.

thanks for your help, I really do appreciate it. Its driving me nuts
because i've made this work before.. but now i'm on a hosted server that
I dont control so i dont have the proper access to the logs i'd like..

any suggestions are welcome.. Thanks
