Horde is a PHP application that runs on the web server but communicates 
with the mail and LDAP servers (is asked to), as such it should be 
installed on the web server and configured to connect to the mail server 
to get mail. It should be noted though, that you will need an IMAP mail 
server as well as postfix.

Hi,

I have a specific needs from sidebar. All I want to do is remove
"options" item from sidebar. When I enable an application (f.e.
turba), it enables not only as application, it automatically is being
added to "options" item (under it). I have no idea how could I remove
the options item. There is no "options" block in registry.php. But
why? Is it possible to do without editing php code in sidebar.php?

We are currently having an issue forwarding an email that has an inline image in it. When an user try to forward a mail the meet those condition, we get a white page. Here is the result in error.log :

Futhermore, if after I choose "forward", and I try to "previsualise" the picture in the bottom of the compose window, it seems it try to open an empty picture. 

It works well attachement with attachement that are not inline image. 

We are using IMP 4.0.5 and Horde 3.0.5 

Here is how if vfs is configured : 
/horde/conf.php 
$conf['vfs']['params']['vfsroot'] = '/tmp'; 
$conf['vfs']['type'] = 'file'; 
/imp/conf.php 
$conf['compose']['use_vfs'] = true;

Hello, I noticed that Horde IMP can be used to collect emails from extern
mail accounts. 

Can anybody give me some information what preparations I have to do? 
I think I am to stupid, but I have not found any information about using
this feature. 
The button "Nachrichten sammeln" is shown on IMP. But I can't choose an
extern Email server. I have add an entry under preferences -> "Entfernte
Server". But this entry is not shown in the list if I click on "Nachrichten
sammeln". It would be great to get some information that I can use this
great feature. Thank you in advance. Manuel

I'd like to know what are the best practices for implementing
email hosting for several domains. The service is accessible
via pop/imap/webmail

Apart from that, I'd like to ask for comments on my actual
comfiguration..
The system is already configured and running as follows:

# uname -rms
FreeBSD 6.1-RELEASE-p23 i386

MTA:        sendmail
imap/pop:    mail/imap-uw
webmail:    horde from ports

Every mailbox as a local unix account, ie:
info at adomain.com --> a1
steve at adomain.com --> a2
info at anotherdomain.com --> b1
joe at anotherdomain.com --> b2
etc..

Now, everything works fine, but I'm a bit concerned with the
webmail login.. I'd like info at adomain.com to login with a
username equal to the email, but at present the authentication in
horde is handled by imp, I'm not sure how to proceed with that..

Any hints/suggestions are welcome.

The messages are sorted by the ID column.
If I click on the column head "Date" or "From" nothing happens.

Is this a configuration problem or is there only the possibility to sort 
via "ID"?

I do not really know.

Things to check:
- Is it really a HTML message, complying with RFC 2045 and 2046?
   Look at the message's source code: Has the part you cannot
   display content-type=text/html?
- Is it a problem with your browser? Inspect the HTTP headers
   of the page that cannot be displayed (e. g. using Firefox
   with the pertinent "Live HTTP headers" extension), whether
   the page has Content-type: text/html.
- Have you meticulously provided for all those pre-requisits
   listed in horde/docs/INSTALL and horde/imp/docs/INSTALL? (also
   available under <http://www.horde.org/horde/docs/?f=INSTALL.html>
   <and <http://www.horde.org/imp/docs/?f=INSTALL.html>, respectively)

This isn't much different from running it on a single host. You  
probably only want to use Alias to point from each domain to the  
single Horde install.
If you use Horde 3.2, you could leverage the virtual host feature that  
allows vhost specific configuration.

You could use the vinfo hook to convert between both user name styles.

noticed (doh!) that the system is stripping out any attachments before  
it saves sent messages. This seems to be a space-saving measure for  
which I really don't have any need. Is there a way to disable this  
feature?

Is anyone here using up-imapproxy w/ the current IMP?  We've been  
using it for years, but I've noticed with the current stuff, it's  
interfering with message deletion.

If I talk to the proxy server, I can delete stuff from mailbox view,  
but messages deleted from message view usually don't get marked as  
deleted.

If I talk directly to the IMAP server, it works as expected.

Horde 3.0.x / IMP 4.0.x  (and I believe Horde 3.1.x / IMP 4.1.x)  
doesn't display this behavior when communicating through the proxy  
server... so, I'm not sure if this is a Horde issue, or a up-imapproxy  
issue. :\

Apparently, IMP + up-imapproxy's implementation of "select caching"  
don't play well together.  Turning off select caching has resolved the

Most likely it isn't a MIME message.  In which case the entire message  
body would be displayed as-is (as text).

A more proper answer would be that c-client and up-imapproxy doesn't  
work well together.  We don't have any direct control over the IMAP  
commands being sent.

Hello!

I have a server with Windows 2003 Server with Active Directory and IIS. I have installed horde on it and I used PHP 4. Now I have upgraded to PHP 5, and I installed also a fresh copy of Horde and IMP, but now I have got problem with logging in. I use LDAP in horde for autenticating against Active Directory. It worked before but after upgrading I get a message "Could not search the LDAP server" when I try to log in. I have set all LDAP preferences as it was before, but for some reason it don't work. I tried to use Turba with LDAP to see if that work and it did. But not for Horde. Have somebody else had the same problem, and can somebody help me?

I would get dimp menu in the horde main menu :
Ex : Courriel
    	Inbox
    	Summary
    	New message
I don't want Dimp opens a second menu at the right of the main menu 
because there is redundance of link that puzzled the users.

Here is what I've began to do :

That was indeed the fix.  I grabbed the copy tagged FRAMEWORK_3 and  
added it to our RC3 installation, and we no longer get the "malicious  
request" error message.

Here is an example vinfo hook that we use to force all usernames to 
lowercase:

You could replace the code inside "if ($type == 'username') { ... }" with 
code to convert from "info at adomain.com" to "a1".  Perhaps you have this 
mapping stored in LDAP, MySQL, or a flat file?  The specifics would be up 
to you.

thanks for your email.

what do you exactly mean with broken imap server?
I am using postfix and dovecot and there are no problems in other  
applications with the server.
The only problems I have are that i can't sort and that the reminder  
function of kronolith doesn't work.

Hello,
when I sent a mail with imp and add a attachment in UTF16, it isn't 
base64 encoded as it should be.
So it becomes corrupted when opened in Outlook or Thunderbird.

You can find a very short unicode-file here to do a test:

Is it an error in horde/imp, or in php or in ...

PS: I tested it with lots of browsers (in windows and linux) to get the 
same result.

I tested this with Iceweasel (Firefox) 2.0.0.12 on Debian Unstable as the 
client, and the latest stable releases of Horde and IMP with PHP5 on 
Debian Etch as the server.  The browser says the content-type is 
text/plain when it uploads the attachment.  Here is the exact attachment 
that was sent in the email:

It used quoted-printable encoding instead of Base64.  I'm not a 
quoted-printable whiz, but it appears that the high-order bits get encoded 
as 00 (NUL) values.  When I download this same attachment using IMP, it is 
identical to your original unicode.txt file.  However, I suspect 
Thunderbird and Outlook are not combining the two bytes of data back 
together (=FF=FE into FFEE) but are trying to render the NUL character.

Anyways, I'm mostly writing this all down because I was interested enough 
to test it myself.  I have no idea if there is some way to get IMP to use 
the UTF-16 character set instead.
