+ once upon a time, wesleyan university used a IMP on a non-secure server. it had 
+ a bunch of problems.  it is now on a secure server, and it looks and works a 
+ lot better, for the most part, but there is one obvious problem.  when one 
+ enters various 'preferences' on the new secure server, they don't get saved. 
+ for example, let's say my email was sjones@wesleyan.edu, and it said so in 
+ the 'from' line.  i would want it to say 'shostakovich jones'.  i would type 
+ that into the 'from'. i would then hit 'save'.  following this, the 'from' line 
+ would go back to being 'sjones@wesleyan.edu' rather than 'shostakovich jones 
+ <sjones@wesleyan.edu>'. same goes for 'signature' and all that other stuff.
