  The pref value looks fine. However, my HEAD installation seems to select the 
  appropriate folder just fine. Are you using 'folders', 'namespace', or neither? 
  This is with Cyrus? Or Courier?

+ strangely, i was able to resolve this issue by deleting by  my existing
+ "INBOX.trash" pref. when resaved it was stored as just "trash". this is with
+ vanilla cyrus install with "INBOX." folders and no namespace.

+ btw, it sure would be nice if in future releases of horde projects an UPGRADING
+ document is included. since i assume every imp installation with cyrus will have
+ to change their users' trash_folder prefs when migrating from 3.0 to 3.1, this
