+ I did some searching to see if this bug's already been reported, but I didn't 
+ find anything, so:

+ The error occurs when menu.php is loaded from the frameset, but goes away when 
+ the menu frame is reloaded manually.

+ When this error has occurred, the menu tree "explodes" showing all items.  When 
+ the menu frame is refreshed manually, all items retract.  Without digging into 
+ the code, I can't tell you for sure if this behavior is actually related to the 
+ above error.
