I my case, the strings are stored in the Oracle db in UTF8 format,
so when the message body is generated, it has mixed encoding, 
partially singlebyte (plain latin) and partially multibyte (UTF8).
Suggest setting up the message as a MIME message;
converting whole body into UTF8, setting the approptiate RFC822 headers
(Mime-Version, Content-Type, Content-Transfer-Encoding).
