When adding an entry manually in Turba; the form has a different validation
for telephone numbers. In work phone and home phone, I can enter
'08-1234567'; whereas the mobile phone cannot contain (I assume) the dash
(-).

All of these fields are phone numbers and should/must follow the same
format. I realize the checking on the mobile number field is probably due to
some other application being able to use it ;) (The SMS app, can't recall
its name), but it's hard to find the logic in it from a user's point of
view.
