Maybe I am reading your desciption wrong... but it almost sounds like you
are pasting *both* your public and private key at the same time.  If this is
the case, this is completely incorrect.  The first screen is for the public
key *only*.  The second screen is for the private key *only*.  There should
be a different key entered for both screens.
