I finally hunted this bug down. I switched off alpha rendering and horde
became ~50% faster on middle range machines. And now I can get into my
INBOX.

When you have IE6 on Windows98 and some particular versions of DirectX
installed, IE6 can't handle png alpha script because of somekind of memory
leak. I will try to ask about this IE guys on MSDN.

p.s. IE5.x works well with alpha rengering switched on.
