The imp INSTALL doc mentions nothing about simply extracting the archive,
and configuring php to compile against it, without having to compile or
install c-client in the traditional sense. I finally found this solution
yesterday at groups.google.com which had an archived post to
mailing.www.horde-imp dated back to June of this year. Having this explained
simply and concisely with an example of the ./config statement in the
INSTALL doc would have been very helpful avoiding me wasting a day and in
search engine hell, but I finally got it to work with the following

I wasn't looking for support, I was looking for instructions for how to
install imp.
