The imap status flag "responded"  does not always get set.

When using forward/reply/reply to all the 
following error(s) are output to screen. 

This is not the case for all messages.
Only when those error(s) are shown,  the status flag "responded" is not
set.

Looking at the message headers for a working message and a non
working message, it looks like there is no message_id in the headers
but further than that I haven't been able to track it down.
