I think you are right with persons having many entries per day, but if it is
a configurable option this shouldn't be a problem. People with many dates
can switch this option to "off" and also the default behaviour could be
"off".
The summaries of the search function are no alternative: you can't see
month-boundaries, the entries are ordered not chronological (the are odered
by type; the date is only the second criteria) and it's no substitute for a
paper-calendar.
