It would be useful if there was an option for downloading an entire folder
tree to a maildir-style mailbox for backup-purposes. The hole maildir-tree
should be put into one zip- or tar-archive which would make the download
possible in just one fileconserving all IMAP-attributes and the
folder-structure.

I opened this feature request because the download of folders in the
mbox-format does not preserve any IMAP-attributes or the folder-structure.
There is already free software available that is capable of that job (isync,
imapsync or offlineIMAP), however they need to be installed and configured
on the client-system and range from very hard to impossible to set-up
platforms other than UNIX. It happens to me that I work on several
computers, one of which runs a non-UNIX operating system on which I have
just limited rights on installing or running my own software. It would be
nice to have a server-side solution to backup my mail with all its
attributes and the folder-structure.
Thanks.
