kronolith that http will be used over port 80. this is not a valid
assumption as one can change that. in fact, we almost always move it to
https and port 4430 so that the client can have a regular web server w/SSL
on that same machine.

the attached patch addresses this by making both of these items
configurable. it also defaults to https since that is likely to be safer. on
an intranet it wouldn't likely matter as much but over a public network it's
nice to secure private information.
