This would work but it requires two steps in two different places. Most
people will not recognize the potential for this problem until it is too
late (eg they have returned from holiday and there mailbox is full junk). In
my opinion, the issue should be dealt with in the vacation form.

I agree that the implementation could be done better. I think it should be
implemented with configurable spam headers. I wasn't sure how to implement
this properly. 

There is no reason I can see it could not be implemented with the other
backends as well. 

Perhaps a better place to implement this feature would be in the "Do not
send responses to bulk or list messages"  checkbox. Changing it to "Do not
send responses to bulk,list messages or spam".
