I've recently noticed that attachments are sometimes appearing on different
e-mail messages than the original message they came with. For instance, a
message may arrive with an attached file, and then a subsequent message is
received. When opening that new message, the attachment on the prior message
may appear as well. Sometimes the original message may not show the
attachment anymore, but it is there when I view the message source.

The behavior isn't consistent so far. I haven't figured out what causes the
oddness, but I'm wondering if it is deleting a message and causing
attachment information to be out of sync somehow.

What fixes it for me is logging out and logging back in. Then attachments
appear correctly for awhile.

I'm using the following:

PHP 4.3.10

MIME magic db
VFS: Local file system
Cache System: Local file system
Session Handler: PHP
