This is probably not your fault, but we still can't help any further until
you dig deeper.

Horde is using the Mail and Net_SMTP packages from PEAR for sending mail, so
the problem could be anywhere in this chain. As a first step, could you try
to use sendmail (the command, not the software) instead?
