Well, I now see the problem is only if I am not using horde authentication
through imp module, i.e. for separate horde auth (but imp is using this
anyway and does not ask for the password when I am already in horde). The
problem is msie specific, but can be resolved by using "let a horde
application handle authentication" switch.
