Never mind, scratch that.  This has to do with why we can't do preview
formatting in Mailbox.php - it must be in either mailbox.php or a yet
uncreated mailbox rendering library.  We are altering the object in
Mailbox.php which alters the object in the mailbox cache, and this altered
object is potentially being saved.
