How about a compromise?  Only allow autologins in this situation *if* there
are no login parameters on the login page (i.e. the ability to switch shares
for SMB, the ability to set a hostname on FTP servers).  If we would allow
autologins in the latter case, then we would never be able to change those
parameters.
