Here are my part of settings in horde/conf.php  for my VFS backend:
$conf['vfs']['params']['vfsroot'] = '/horde_vfs';
$conf['vfs']['type'] = 'file';

None of any sub-dir was created under
/horde_vfs/.horde/imp/attachments/txg16 directory and therefore,none of any
attachments were saved in it  after sent message. No error or warning
message was left in /tmp/horde.log .

The same VFS backend work fine for my another Horde: 3.0.9 + Imp: H3 (4.0.4)
system,this issue comes up since using Horde 3.1 RC2+IMP 4.1 RC2.

Gollem H3 (1.0.2-RC1) work fine with the same VFS backend.
