Clicking on any of the column headers results in no sorting - other than
message id.

For example:
delete pref_name=sortby

Changing the sorting option (in preferences or by clicking on a column
header) results in:
 1) column headers are clickable, but nothing happens
 2) changing the sorting order in options changes nothing

The only way to recover from this is to delete pref_name=sortby from the
pref db.
