So it looks like the SMTP server is *not* correctly removing the initial
period when there is only a single period on the line (pursuant to RFC
2821).  The RFC is clear it is the SMTP server's responsibilty to remove
those quoting periods, not our responsibility,

Further testing last night indicated Net_Socket::SMTP is sending the
correct data for this message, namely:

What is stranger is that its not like I am using an obscure SMTP server -
I am using the latest version of postfix in the centos distribution.
