When I was using fetchmail, I also noticed that it runs on every  
mailbox refresh, which is not what happens in IMP. I don't  
particularly care about the frequency, but constantly being notified  
that 0 messages were fetched is annoying. And some people probably  
have a reason to dial the frequency down too.
