While expunging any mailbox, a notification is shown that says Error  
communicating with the server.  The display is not updated, but if the  
view is refreshed either by reloading the page, or navigating to  
another mailbox, and then back to the original mailbox, the emails  
appear to have been correctly expunged.  This happens consistently, on  
each expunge attempt, and at no other time.

No errors in the server log, no js errors in firebug. IMAP log below,  
but that looks normal as far as I can tell... not sure where to go next.
