when generating a new keypair via IMP's PGP plugin, umlauts in the  
user ID aren't encoded correctly. That is, we added a user ID  
"Libertäres Zentrum Magdeburg", but the resulting UID field in the key  
was "Libert\xe4\x72es Zentrum Magdeburg" (xe4 encodes ä, x72 encodes r  
in unicode).
