I thought, when the alarm-framework is used, I can get these  
notifications even in Google Chrome, to get the user informed, that  
new mails arrived.

The user will not notice a new mail, when the browser is minimized, or  
it's in the background, since the internally displayed popup will be  
flushed after some seconds.

A desktop notification for new mails similar to alarmed events (with  
desktop-notification of course) in kronolith would be great.
