That's a basic FETCH command that any IMAP server must support (and  
can't be worked around).  E.g., using Dovecot 2.1:

8 UID FETCH 2:92 (ENVELOPE FLAGS RFC822.SIZE BODY.PEEK[HEADER.FIELDS  
(IMPORTANCE LIST-POST X-PRIORITY)])
8 OK Fetch completed.

Have you tried upgrading your IMAP server?
