I should say that this is not just me being obtuse... I am running up  
to date from CentOS, which is 5.3.3.

If no other option I will look at one of the non-CentOS php upgrade  
paths, but preference for managing this server would be to keep it  
simple with CentOS packages. To date that has not been an issue, with  
Horde working fine under 5.3.3.
