One of the things I tried early on was setting PHP output buffering to  
ON (I think from memory default in php.ini is 4096):

That made the iOS devices' progress bar style indicator work, although  
the resultant downloads were corrupted and incomplete.


Anyway, looks like we may be getting closer...
