Incorrect.  The message is encrypted with EVERY recipient's key.   
**Including** the sender (of course -- if saved in the sent-mail, they  
need to be able to view it).

It seems that your sender does NOT have a public key - thus, an  
attempt to hit the keyserver to find it.

This is intentional.  Nobody has written the code to do this on mobile  
devices yet.  Patches and/or funding would be greatly appreciated and  
would speed development.
