This probably doesn't have to to anything with the mobile view, but  
with the fact that HTML message may be formatted so that it doesn't  
fit into the message view. In a regular browser we could add a  
horizontal scrollbar, but in touch-optimized views there isn't an easy  
solution, because left-right-swipe already has some other behavior  
attached.
