We are facing this problem with authentication going through IMP (auth  
driver = IMP) with an imap backend but cannot confirm whether it also  
occurs or not if horde does imap itself authentication.

The problem manifests itself if a user with an existing horde session  
permanent cannot authenticate to the imap backend anymore. This can  
happen due to several reasons, the simplest being that the password  
was changed externally.

Now instead of being logged out the user is presented with a  
persistent "error communicating with server" message.
