[Based on what I see in v5.2.6]
There does not appear to be a way to verify that the sender of an
email is really who it claims before opening the suspect email.
e.g. I am looking at one purporting to be from Apple. I cannot discern
whether it is from <someone at apple.com> or from <malicious at danger.com>.

It would be helpful if there were hover help over links. For the
"From" link, the hover help could show:
"Read message from Apple <malicious at danger.com>"
or
"Compose message to Apple <malicious at danger.com>"
depending on how the Mailbox Display setting for "The From: column of
the message should be linked:" was configured.
