  Log:
  - create a separate class for handling all News functions, both external news and, if set up, internal news.
  - fix up some style, naming
  - move some reusable code from the scripts to functions

  NOTE: a lot of this still needs cleaning up, and has a times been hacked together a bit to try and not break jonah in the meantime.
