  This seems to do a better job of consistently lightening colors like
  #ff0000. I've kept the old code, which can certainly find a better
  name, as moreIntenseColor().
  
  Both of these methods might be more appropriate in a Horde_Image_Color
  class or some such, if we wanted to encapsulate color handling a bit
  more.
