I can only guess without being able to actually play with it, but
I'd wager it has something to do with the scope field.  If that
is left blank (which it is in the above code), the scope will
default to 'horde'.  If the scope field of the entry in your
table (or whatever source you're using) isn't also set to
'horde', you'll get an empty result.
