I use OpenLDAP-1.2.9 (maybe I should update :-) )

fyi: When I do a search operation on the directory, without applying a search
criterium (empty input), there aren't any results returned. By just applying a *
all records are returned.

This in contrary with the SQL server, which does return all records without a
search criterium.
