I was under the impression that it was dictated at the protocol
level, but I don't have a reference to back that up.  I'll do
some research after lunch.  If relative paths are universally
exceptable, I'll gladly make the change in the source code.

The other case we need to catch is the change from SSL to
non-SSL, and vice-versa, btw.
