The Horde team is very pleased to announce the official release of the
Horde 2.0 framework! This release finalizes the Horde 2.x API as a
stable development platform for new Horde application development.

Horde 2.0 should be considered a production-level release. The code
has undergone a strict testing cycle in the form of a number of public
release candidates.

A lot of work has gone into this exciting new version of the Horde
framework; major new benefits include:

    - better preferences
    - MIME viewer support
    - PHP 4 native session support (no PHPLIB!)
    - inter-Horde-application communication
    - browser detection, and ability to generate compensation "quirks"
    - CSS generator
    - stabilized and documented API
    - full internationalization support via GNU gettext
    - authentication subsystem
    - common application registry
    - more extensive caching for improved performance

Unlike Horde 1.2 (which was pretty tied to IMP), this version of Horde is
a true independent framework upon which other applications can be built.
