The fact that you use a trash folder in IMP doesn't mean that aren't any
deleted messages in the mailbox. You may switch trash folder on and off in
IMP or access the mailbox with another client where you don't use a trash
folder.

A short while ago preferences were changed to include the folder prefix
in the Trash/Drafts/sent-mail folder options. You can check MARC for
the details, but what it comes down to is you now must go back into
options and set the folders again.

You also need to go into:
/usr/local/src/horde.3/imp/templates/compose/compose.inc
and get rid of the string 'IMP::preambleString() . ' from line 342. I
submitted a "patch" yesterday, but that should take care of you until it
gets committed (if it hasn't already).

Subject: Re: [dev] imp: folder prefixes

I'm not sure what "the best way" is here, but the more I think about it,
the less I like the HEAD manner of handling this. Whether it's a shared
folder prefix or a private folder prefix, either way you are hardcoding
the value of one user preference into the value of another.

I agree with providing the option of using a shared folders for
Drafts/Sent (not sure why you would use a shared folder for Trash), but
doing it the new way sets up problems for user preferences as we've
already seen.

The problem with the HEAD way is that if I decide, for one reason or
another, to change my folder prefix, I'm in just as much trouble
regarding use preferences later as I am now; I have to update everyone's
stored preferences to reflect the change.

Now, offering solutions is hard for me to do as I'm not intimately
familiar with the code. I would say, though, that having received few,
if any, complaints about the RELENG way indicates this is a rare
problem. We should have the system assume that they want to use a
private folder, and provide some kind of override for the shared
(special) case.

As an example, prepend a character to the folder name if it's shared.
Then in IMP::preambleString() or somewhere similar, do a logic check.
If it's not a shared folder, prepend the 'folders' and 'namespace'
settings. If it is a shared folder, do whatever is appropriate for a
shared folder (don't append anything, append a shared folder prefix,
whatever).

I don't know what other complications this causes, but I think I would
rather see it back the old way with the shared folder limitation. It's
easier to explain to a user they can't use a shared folder for Drafts
than it is to go through and update thousands of user preferences
(okay...for me right now it's just a few, but larger installations would
be unhappy).

That's my two cents...do with it what you will.

Why was this added anyway? As the currently stored (draft and trash) folder
is preselected it doesn't make much sense to me.

In the 'Message Composition' Option window the currently configured folder
is echoed to the screen directly after the 'Drafts folder:' prompt as well
as in the drop-down box? I assume this is not the desired bahaviour as
the other folderselect routines do not do this and IMHO it looks messy?
