Yes, thought about it, but didn't, for two reasons:

1) I wanted to see if it would be needed (it may not be).
2) I wanted to pass it by the dev list, which I haven't had time to yet,
   to make sure no one had a problem with the file extension I picked 
   (though I doubt anyone would, since I eventually settled on .bin)

That's why my comment in the checkin log says things like "might need to"
and ends in a question mark, etc.
