[dev] app structure advice?

Hi Dev,

Some architecture advice, please.

I'm about to use Horde as a framework for an enterprise intranet.  I
plan to put our custom functionality into one or more in-house Horde
applications, running alongside turba, mnemo, etc.

There will be about three permission levels (auth groups) for users,
with some groups having access to more functionality than others.

So my architecture dilemnas are:

 - Would it be better to have one Horde app total, with a permission
check at the entry to each screen;

 - or better to have one Horde app for each group, with the permission
check done roughly when the app is pushed?


BTW, with some effort, I was able to install the Horde tree in an
arbitrary webroot path, without using .htaccess or unix root.  This
was discussed by Chuck et al on the list a while back. If anyone needs
help with this, I met with success and might have some hints.
